FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What do feed your cattle?
A: From a young age, our cattle have a constant supply of hay that we supplement with corn. As the cattle get older, they are fed more corn while always having access to fresh hay to increase the quality of the beef.
Q: Where are your cattle raised?
A: All of our beef comes from cattle raised on our family farm seven miles south of Leland, Illinois.
Q: Is your beef antibiotic free?
A: We watch our cattle very closely for any health concerns. If any of our animals show signs of being sick, we give them antibiotics to help them get better quicker. Just like you and your family, we do not give any antibiotics unless we feel it is necessary. If one of our animals receives antibiotics, it is required to go through a withdrawal period prior to processing. In 15 years of raising beef, we have only had to give antibiotics to our animals a handful of times.

Q: How do I order from Riskedal Beef?
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Cash is king! Checks are fine too. We can accept credit and debit cards for an additional 3% transaction fee.
Q: What is included in a quarter of beef? How do I go about ordering a quarter beef?
A: A quarter beef is the most economical way to purchase your beef because you get all of the cuts (including high dollar steaks) for a lower price in comparison to ground beef. When ordering a quarter, you request specific cuts that you would like and you also get to choose how you want it packaged. You’ll get to choose how thick you want your steaks and how big you want your roasts. Since quarters are customizable, it is difficult to say exactly what you will receive, but below is an example of one way you could have your quarter cut:
8-10 T-bone steaks4 pound roasts (Chuck, arm, rump, pot roast, rolled, etc.)
4-6 porterhouse steaks
4-6 sirloin steaks
4-6 ribeye steaks
5 lbs stew meat
Heart, liver, tongue, tail (If requested)
45 lbs ground beef/ burger patties
Q: How much freezer space does a quarter beef require?
A: Darren has a 7 cubic foot chest freezer. This comfortably holds a quarter beef with some room left over for some bacon, a couple frozen pizzas and a gallon or two of Kendall's ice cream.
Q: How long will it take me to eat a quarter beef?
A: That depends on how often you eat beef! Our family of 4 typically goes through a quarter beef in just under a year.
Q: How long can I keep beef in my freezer without it going bad?
A: The FDA recommends freezing meat at 0 degrees for up to 12 months.
